El grupo ULTRAMAR se creó en 1995 en la isla de La Palma y en la ciudad holandesa de Zoetermeer, y es formado por artistas de diferentes nacionalidades con el vinculo común de expresarse por medio del arte. En estos seis años, artistas de Canarias han viajado hasta Holanda (Delft, La Haya y Zoetermeer) para mostrar alli sus trabajos, de la misma forma, ellos nos han visitado; en esta combinación, es la cuarta muestra que realizamos (Holanda, Tenerife y La Palma) juntos. No nos une el mismo estilo, por el contrario, la diversidad de formas a la hora de expresarnos artísticamente es lo que nos enriquece y anima a seguir adelante. Francisco "Ultramar" is the name of a cooperative project of artists from the Spanish island La Palma and the Dutch city of Zoetermeer. The project has begun with an exposition of six artists from La Palma in Zoetermeer in 1996. One year later eight artists from Zoetermeer have shown their works on the island La Palma. During the subsequent years alternately expositions of this kind have taken place at both locations. The project has been inaugurated and organized by Friederike Kimmerle who is living partly on La Palma and partly in Zoetermeer. She has done this in connection with the Foundation for Intercultural Philosophy and Art in Zoetermeer. The participating artists are: From La Palma Friederike Kimmerle, Günter Wilms, Alberto Cabrera, Victor M. Francisco (who is living and working on Tenerife since a couple of years), Belinda M�hl. From Zoetermeer and environment Elly du Clou, Lucy de Kruijf (who is living and working at Benthuizen), Marijke Lamboo, Patricia Seijen ten Hoorn. Their works will be exihibited at the following location: Casona Alférez Salvador Ferndandéz, El Paso La Palma, Spain In the Catalogue of the La Palma-group a short text in English is published which describes the whole enterprise of Ultramar: The project was founded in 1995 on the island of La Palma and in the city of Zoetermeer. It joins artists from different nationalities with the common link of expressing themselves through art. In these seven years, artists from the Canary Islands have travelled to Holland to show their works there. And they [the Dutch artists from Zoetermeer and environment] have visited us, too. We are not joined by a common style of art. On the contrary, the diversity of forms that we use to express artistically ourselves is what enriches and encourages us to carry on.
